Hi,
yes there's a Museum of Childhood in East London.
I'm sure they would appreciate the collection and children from all around the country would be able to view them there.http://www.vam.ac.uk/moc/
Your very generous and I'm sure you would get some sort of recognition or donation at least.

With a collection like that you could even try a local museum, they may decide to make a permanent collection due to the size.
Regardless of where it ends up please take into account the following:
- Ensure that your collection will be fully insured by their insurance.
- Check the physical location of where they will store it (if its in direct sunlight the cars / boxes will fade)
- Keep a detailed list of what is lent AND the condition its in at the time (ideally take photo's of each item)
- Draw up a formal letter, signed by the head of the museum outlining that the collection still belongs to you and that you have the right to recall it at any time and the museum will take full care of it and replace any damaged items (refer back to the list I mentioned earlier)
- Check their security arrangements.
- Don't get a plaque saying that this is your collection giving your name (people my then assume that you will have lots more of the same at home and you may become a target for thieves)
