I have quite a large collection of model cars ,close to alomst 800 and rising, I have desided its time for me to stop and grow up,the models are mostly 1/43rd scale and are made by lledo, vangauards, and oxford diecast nearly all boxed apart from one or two some of the boxes are a bit tatty but they are over 20 years old but the cars themselfs are all mint and never been played with, and quiet a few of them are of limited editions,I do also have a few 1/18th scale cars made by auto art, solido, ertal, and yatming, other makes I have are matchbox and corgi and are of a mixture of superkings and juinor scales, are there any toy museums in the uk where I can donate them?
I would sell them but I’d never get my money back, although I have looked up the prices in Model price guides, you can only get what people are willing to pay for them at the time,I rather have them go somewhere where they can be enjoyed by all.

With a collection like that you could even try a local museum, they may decide to make a permanent collection due to the size.
Regardless of where it ends up please take into account the following:
- Ensure that your collection will be fully insured by their insurance.
- Check the physical location of where they will store it (if its in direct sunlight the cars / boxes will fade)
- Keep a detailed list of what is lent AND the condition its in at the time (ideally take photo’s of each item)
- Draw up a formal letter, signed by the head of the museum outlining that the collection still belongs to you and that you have the right to recall it at any time and the museum will take full care of it and replace any damaged items (refer back to the list I mentioned earlier)
- Check their security arrangements.
- Don’t get a plaque saying that this is your collection giving your name (people my then assume that you will have lots more of the same at home and you may become a target for thieves)

Hi,
yes there’s a Museum of Childhood in East London.
I’m sure they would appreciate the collection and children from all around the country would be able to view them there.http://www.vam.ac.uk/moc/
Your very generous and I’m sure you would get some sort of recognition or donation at least.
