I need a particular model car for my boyfriend for his birthday, but the only ones I can find which are the right model are the wrong colour.
If I can’t find one in the right colour would it be safe to get one in a different colour & spray it the right colour?
Could I do this myself or should I take it somewhere to get it done?
Does anyone know any model car shops in the Southampton area which might sell the model I need (below).
** The colour I need is ‘pearl metallic flue green’ – or a colour that looks similar (the green colour of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 – the model I need) but I can only find the model in grey, orange & yellow.

There are a couple of things you can do. You can repaint the dicast but you need to strip the paint off of it and start over. Take it apart and remove all of the chrome parts etc. I put them in zip lock bags to keep track of the parts. Brake fluid will strip the paint, you can put in all in a bucket and leave it for a few days. At some point scub it to remove the paint. Once it’s all removed wash the body, and make sure it’s dry you can spray paint the body. Let it dry for at least a couple of days and then reassemble. I have no idea where you could find that color, I think I would start at an auto parts store.
If you dont want to go through all of this you might be able to get a modeler to do it for you. You could check a local model shop to see if they know anyone who would do it.
Good luck and hope this helps.
