Hey, if he likes cars, get him a model and all the paints and glue and things he would need for it so he can put it together in any of his spare time. Send any pics you have of the two of you and try to write him everyday. Even if it just says “i miss you” or “i love you”…for real, it would mean the world to him, especially just getting out of a divorce like that. Good luck!

just know that whatever you send him it should be easy to pack around because they will either carry it with them or sadly end up giving it away or throwing it away due to all the other things they have to carry. send something small and useful. if he has a computer or dvd player with him buy some dvds..things that he can use..

It has only been three months so don’t go over board. When my hubby was over there he said the guys liked reading and passing magazines around. Pack a box full of magazines on cars [they have a ton of them] and maybe some magazines like those celebrity ones. A model is not a great idea because of packing, it will break but stuff he can read, maybe even some books, puzzle books like crosswords and a special card. A Wal Mart gift card so he could pick something out and a card.
We have now been happily married for 4 years.
I met my now husband when he was in the military after a nasty divorce and we took it slow, he was gun shy BIG TIME. 1 year is not very long after having your heart broke

You guys have been dating only for 3 months?
I suggest you get him a nice card to make him feel special since he’s in Iraq right now and can’t really accept actual “phyisical gifts” since there’s really no place to stash it..because their military gear bag is all they carry around with them for the most art.
You can buy him the phyiscal gift and give it to him when he gets back so it will be with you but waiting for him.
Forgot to add that if you are sending him a Christmas Card please know it will arrive late because it depends on when they get mail pick up for their FPO or APO address..in Iraq since Mail will most likely be dropped off in Kuwait..which means everything (Care Packages & Letters) by the time they get to the guys it will all be old news but its still News to them…
