I would like to match the colors of cars that I and family members owned in the past. I have found
some of the diecast models, but not always in the
right color scheme or options. Is there a way to
repaint them in the accurate original colors? Another problem would be to re-decal the new finish.

Auto paint supply stores do have aerosol jars that you attach a pressurized canister to the top. You can match the paint exactly using factory numbers. As far as the option trim for your models, well that is the hobby part of modeling. When you restore old cars (life-sized) you might take a station wagon for cannibalized parts to make a complete convertible sedan.

If you know about the color or can guestimate it, I would look at a chip book at your local autozone or pepboys. then from there i would try to match it with a duplicolor spray paint. as of decals, if you join one of the many groups that build model cars on yahoo, you can find a few people that will replicate decals for you.
