Yes, I collect them. All my White LIghtnings I’ve found in stores, and usually paid exactly what I’d pay for a regular one. Usually $4 plus tax in the USA. I’ve probably found 6 or 7 of them over the last 8 years. My last one I found was 2 months ago, at a Toys R Us, it was a previous release, the store was having a close-out sale, and I got it actually CHEAPER than the new ones. LOL It was a ‘67 Dodge Charger.
My BEST find, though , was last year – I collect AMC JL diecasts ( ie, Hornet, Gremlin, AMX, Javelin ), and I found not one, but TWO Gremlin White Lightnings at the SAME STORE. I could NOT believe my incredible good fortune! I own eight full-size Gremlins, and I found TWO WL versions of them. Needless to say, I’m not selling them. LOL. Pure stinkin’ luck, to be sure.
Another time, back when Dollar Tree was selling the Johnny LIghting pull-back racers ( plastic, not diecast metal ), believe it or not, they actually have WL versions of THEM. I spent about 2 months hitting every single store around. I found probably 20 of the WL versions, and at that time, Wal-mart was selling them for $3, Dollar Tree had them for $1. I remember at one store, I bought about 30 of them, and 10 were WL versions, they’d just restocked. I had one HUGE bulging bag of them! LOL. I was looking for the Javelins, VW bugs, 57 Chevy Nomads, and some others at the time. I love slot cars, too, and these bodies fit those early model TJet chassis’s.
So, that’s my JL / WL history. I live in Virginia, USA
